Follow these steps below to achieve your desired finish!
Surface Preparation
Thoroughly clean the floor surface by removing any dirt, dust, or debris. Repair any cracks or damages, and ensure the floor is completely dry before proceeding.
Etching or Grinding
If the floor is smooth or has an existing coating, you may need to etch or grind the surface to create a rough texture. This helps the epoxy adhere better. Etching can be done by using 1 part of Hydrochloric acid to 10 parts of water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Alternatively you may diamond grind to open the concrete pores.
Primer Application
Apply a coat of epoxy primer/Epoxy paint thinned down with recommended thinner to the floor using a roller or brush. Make sure to cover the entire surface evenly. The primer helps promote adhesion and prevents bubbles from forming.
Epoxy Mixture Preparation
Mix the Epoxy Part A with Part B Hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions. Stir thoroughly for the recommended time to ensure a proper blend.
Epoxy Application
Pour the mixed epoxy onto the floor in small sections. Use a roller or squeegee to spread the epoxy evenly, working it into the surface. Work systematically to avoid leaving any gaps or uneven areas. Apply within the recommended pot life.
Curing and Final Coat
Allow the epoxy to cure as per the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves leaving the floor untouched for a specified period (usually 1 day). Once the initial coat has cured, you can apply additional topcoats for added durability and finish. Follow the recommended drying time between coats.
